Aboriginal relations

We regularly engage with many diverse Aboriginal communities and organizations across Canada. First Nations and Metis people have unique interests with respect to the land, and maintaining close relationships with Canada's Aboriginal peoples is integral to our business.

Establishing mutually-beneficial relationships with Aboriginal communities through open dialogue, respectful engagement, sponsorships, employment, training and business development is essential to the long-term sustainability of our operations.

Ch'nook Aboriginal Business Education

We are proud to support the Ch'nook Aboriginal Business Education initiative, offered through the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business.

This program is focused on increasing Aboriginal participation on post-secondary business education in British Columbia and Canada.

Since the introduction of Ch'nook's Advanced Management Program, of which Encana is a leading sponsor, the initiative has produced 50 alumni from Victoria to Fort Nelson. Five students from our operating communities in northeastern British Columbia have received Encana sponsorship to Ch'nook.

Applications for Ch'nook's 2014 Aboriginal Management Certificate Program are now being accepted.
