Jeff received his Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Acadia University in Wolfville, NS and completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. Through the cooperative education program at Dalhousie, Jeff worked with several energy companies ranging from oil sands to wind energy. "I wanted a broad exposure to various sectors of the energy industry before I made career decisions after school," says Jeff.

Jeff joined the Deep Panuke project in mid-2009. After a short period in Halifax he moved on to his assignment in Brazil as an Operations Integrity Technician on a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) owned and operated by SBM, the operator of the Deep Panuke Production Field Centre (PFC). During his time in Brazil, he worked on several different FPSOs and the SBM shore base located in Macae. He was heavily involved with planning and coordination of planned maintenance shutdowns on several FPSOs.

When he joined the Developing Skills Initiative, Jeff said: "I hope to gain as much knowledge as I can about the offshore industry and in the future give back to developing Nova Scotia's economy. I'm very fortunate to be in the position I am and appreciate the opportunity to work on such a large scale offshore project." Two years later, he reflects on his comments. "My previous statement has come true! I joined SBM Nova Scotia Contractors in February 2011. I am happy to be a part of the joint effort between SBM and Encana to make the Deep Panuke Project safe and successful."

Jeff's role at Deep Panuke will be Assistant Operations Engineer/Planner in the Halifax office. His responsibilities will vary as the project develops but he started out by contributing to key deliverables for the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board. In the first months of his employment with SBM he was given a sneak peek of the PFC during the construction phase in Abu Dhabi. Throughout regular operations he will provide daily support to the PFC. Longer term he will create a comprehensive multi-discipline forecast of all PFC operations.

Jeff is from Lunenburg, NS and enjoys traveling the world in search of different cultures and tasty food. Among his long term goals: achieve Professional Engineering status in Nova Scotia and obtain Project Management Professional certification.
