View Encana's 2012 First Quarter Interim Report.
Kristen MacLean joined Encana's Deep Panuke team with a background in the offshore oil and gas industry. Originally from Sydney River, Nova Scotia, Kristen is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Community College's (NSCC) Halifax IT Campus where he obtained a Computer Electronics Technician diploma and the NSCC Marconi Campus in Sydney, Nova Scotia where he obtained a Petroleum Operations advanced diploma with fourth class Power Engineering certification.
After joining Deep Panuke, Kristen worked a 28 day-on and 28 day-off rotation as a Production Technician for Single Buoy Moorings Inc. (SBM) on the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel Xikomba, located approximately 250 km off the coast of Luanda, Angola. On the FPSO, Kristen was responsible for helping ensure the plant processes operated as efficiently, safely and environmentally friendly as possible through observation, metering and process controls. SBM is the operator of the Deep Panuke field for Encana.
In late 2010, Kristen left the FPSO Xikomba and began working with SBM's production contractor team at Gulf Piping Company's drydock in Abu Dhabi, UAE where the Deep Panuke Production Field Centre is being built.
Kristen has experienced many rewarding and exciting opportunities. "Working on an oil producing FPSO for the first time was great," says Kristen. "I gained valuable experience in petroleum operations that will be transferable to the Deep Panuke project."
The rotation of work and time off in Kristen's Developing Skills Initiative assignment provided the flexibility for travel. Besides spending time in Luanda, Angola, Kristen travelled to many places including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
In February, 2011, Kristen started a new position as a Production Technician with SBM in Nova Scotia for Deep Panuke.
