Our operations in and around Drumheller focus primarily on coalbed methane (CBM) and shallow gas development in the Horseshoe Canyon. The low-pressure, sweet gas we develop here is located in coal found in various areas of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. As of December 31, 2011 our Clearwater Business Unit had 10,595 net producing wells. CBM has high methane content, and is the gas homeowners and businesses rely on to fuel hot water heaters, furnaces and ranges.
We have been safely and responsibly developing CBM in Alberta for more than six years. Protecting groundwater is of paramount importance to us and we’re committed to working with stakeholders to help them understand how we protect this precious natural resource. Learn more about CBM development by watching CBM: A Bright Future.
