Providing stakeholders with detailed information on our environmental, social and governance performance.
We have approximately 10,595 net wells on production in our coalbed methane resource play. Our CBM development is focused on the Horseshoe Canyon coal formation. The low-pressure, sweet gas we develop here is located in coal found in various areas of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. CBM has high methane content, and is the gas homeowners and businesses rely on to fuel hot water heaters, furnaces and ranges.
We have been safely and responsibly developing CBM in Alberta for more than six years. Protecting groundwater is of paramount importance to us and we’re committed to working with stakeholders to help them understand how we protect this precious natural resource. A sweeping victory for the Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House of Central Alberta recently hosted their annual Freeze the House charity bonspiel in Red Deer. Encana is a proud sponsor of the house and acknowledges the support of our staff who participated in the weekend-long event.
"As a parent, I can only imagine how devastating it would be to be told your child has a serious illness," says Dana Sorensen, a Maintenance Coordinator at Encana, and team Encana third. "It's important to me that I support organizations in my community who make a meaningful difference. It was a fun and fulfilling way to spend the weekend playing a game I already enjoy."
Thanks to all those who participated, including 2010 Olympic men's curling gold medalists Kevin Martin and John Morris, $153,744 was raised to support the Ronald McDonald House.
