Water use in natural gas development, including hydraulic fracturing, is strictly regulated by, state, provincial and federal government agencies. We meet and often exceed the requirements set out by regulators.
Exploration, development and production of natural gas is primarily regulated by local state or provincial agencies. While the regulatory system differs from state to state and province to province, each jurisdiction follows a similar approach.
In the areas where we operate, oil and gas-related activities, such as seismic exploration, drilling, pipeline construction and gas processing operations are overseen and regulated by:
British Columbia Oil & Gas Commission
Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board
Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
Louisiana Office of Conservation
Hydraulic fracturing specifically is also subject to state, provincial and federal environment, health and safety and transportation regulations. In certain areas, some (or all) of these regulations are administered and enforced by the state or provincial oil and gas regulator.
