Encana shows its support with a $300,000 donation to Canada's newest Ronald McDonald House in Red Deer, Alberta.
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) has opened the doors on its newest Canadian house in 19 years in Red Deer, Alberta.
This house will provide overnight accommodations and programs for out of town families who have children being treated at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC). On average up to 33,000 children are treated at the facility each year with one-third of those coming from out of town.
Encana has been a long-time supporter of the Calgary Ronald McDonald House. Because the Red Deer House will support so many people who live and work in our operating communities, extending our support, with a $300,000 donation to name the Great Room, was a natural progression of our commitment.
"The Great Room is a place where families can sit and relax after a long and stressful day at the hospital," says Larry Mathieson, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Central Alberta. "Nobody knows what they are going through better than another family, and the Great Room is the perfect place to receive and offer support, family to family."
"It's important that we invest in family and community wellness in communities where we operate. Our hope is that children and their families who use this House experience the support and comfort of a home-away-from-home" says Mike Forgo, Vice-President, Business Services & Stakeholder Relations.
