The Duvernay is a world class emerging play and represents one of four key growth assets for Encana. Our development plans are focused on developing natural gas and condensate from the area in the Simonette field.
Advances in technology have allowed Encana to use multi-well pads where up to eight horizontal wells are drilled and completed on one site. This approach limits our environmental footprint, while increasing our operational efficiency.
Roads are critical to our operations. We have plans to upgrade key segments of local roads, which will improve use for residents as well as access for drilling and completion operations.
To move equipment and people from one well site to another year-round in the Duvernay, Encana lays down sturdy wood mats made from native materials on our service roads. These wooden mats decrease the amount of fill needed to build a service road, and thus reduces related ground disturbance. The mats are made in Grande Prairie, AB and Prince George, BC with local contractors helping to transport and install them on site.
Our company-wide approach to driving recognizes that roads play a vital role in oil and gas activity. Encana focuses on driving safety across all aspects of our operations.
Safety, trust, integrity and respect are part of our foundational values at Encana, and we expect these principles to be maintained by all staff and contractors. For more information on doing business with us, please visit our Contractor Connection.
