Bonnyville Centennial Centre receives boost from EnCana

February 23, 2005 (Bonnyville, AB) - The Town of Bonnyville and the Municipal District of Bonnyville today announced EnCana's $500,000 contribution to the new Bonnyville Centennial Centre. EnCana is North America's largest independent natural gas producer and operator of Canada's first large-scale commercial steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) project in the Bonnyville area.

"We are delighted to receive this major contribution from EnCana," says Bonnyville Mayor Ray Prevost. "Their support of this project clearly demonstrates EnCana's commitment towards investing in communities where it operates. It sends a strong message that our corporate partners believe this venture will add tremendous value to the community."

Municipal District of Bonnyville Reeve Ken Foley states, "This is fantastic news. The residents and the area can be really thankful that EnCana has stepped up to the plate and delivered a big hit at this time. It brings us closer to completing our goal, which is paying for this facility to serve the community for years. EnCana is demonstrating again that they are great corporate citizens, we are proud to have them in the MD and in this project."

The Bonnyville Centennial Centre is a joint initiative between the Town of Bonnyville and the Municipal District of Bonnyville. The new Centre will provide education, life-long learning, sports, social and wellness programs for many individuals throughout the Lakeland District. It will improve the quality of life and encourage economic growth and relocation incentives while providing the land for expansion as facilities are needed.

"EnCana is committed to supporting projects that contribute to the health and wellbeing of the members of the communities where we are privileged to operate," says Mary Ann Steen, EnCana's Manager of Community Investment. "Recreation complexes are the heart of communities. They provide a gathering place for families, friends and neighbours to socialize and participate in various activities and we are most pleased to be a partner in this important initiative."

EnCana's support is earmarked for the Ice Centre which will house a NHL sized ice surface and provide dual use for trade shows, special events and conventions.
